
The 5th Annual HSE Cultural Art Camp Concludes with a Exploration of Creativity and Culture
The 5th annual HSE Cultural Art Camp, organized by the Wetland Cultural and Education Foundation and facilitated by the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, has successfully concluded, leaving its young participants with a deeper appreciation for art, culture, and creativity.
Over the course of six days, the boys immersed themselves in a variety of hands-on artistic practices and cultural explorations:

Days 1 & 2 – Clay Modelling and Hand-Building
The camp opened with an introduction to clay modelling and hand-building techniques, fostering an understanding of both traditional and contemporary ceramics. -
Day 3 – Art and Environment
Participants learned to create art from recycled materials, blending creativity with environmental responsibility. This session emphasized sustainability and innovation in artistic expression.. -
Days 4 & 5 – Hand-Weaving and Cultural Heritage
The boys were introduced to basic hand-weaving techniques while uncovering the cultural significance of textiles across African societies. -
Day 6 – Traditional Resist-Dyeing
The final day featured hands-on learning of traditional resist-dyeing methods using local fabrics and dyes, exploring pattern-making and colour symbolism.
