The 4th annual HSE Cultural Art Camp, organized by the Wetland Cultural and Education Foundation and facilitated by the Yemisi Shyllon Museum of Art, has just concluded, leaving the boys with a deeper understanding of art.

Over six days, the participants explored various art concepts and practices:

Day 1: They learned the "Principles of Art," including balance, proportion, repetition, harmony, emphasis, and dominance. They engaged in a hands-on art session after a museum tour to see these principles in action.

Day 2: The focus was on "Art and Society," specifically Igbo civilization and cosmology. The boys explored pre-colonial Igbo culture, art, architecture, festivals, etc. They then participated in a practical session on Uli Face Painting.

Day 3: The topic was three-dimensional art and creative problem-solving. The boys created sculptures using polymer clay emphasizing space management and form execution, which helped them develop problem-solving and creativity skills.

Days 4 & 5: The boys delved into printmaking, one of the oldest art forms. They learned lino-cut printing techniques, explored related works in the museum, and spent a full day creating their print works.

Day 6: The final day focused on tie-dye. The participants learned various folding techniques and color combinations, transforming plain white shirts into unique pieces of art.

Overall, the camp was filled with practical sessions that combined learning, creativity, and fun, leaving the boys excited and fulfilled.
